![]() ![]() I wish you all a happy life, those who love me, hate me and in between because I know that have I found my way and it lead to me being on stage with my heroes, I know that you will all find yours as well. Thank you Jerry, thank you Alternative Press and thank you to every one of you who reads this. It’s okay to not always be well liked by your peers and it’s okay to sometimes be afraid of the unknown…often the greatest among us find themselves in that darkness and that is where they create their finest art. I am still that kid that doesn’t know exactly how to fit in and that is always made more obvious when the “popular” people (not unlike high school) poke fun at me or Black Veil Brides…in fact as I write this the singer in a band that many of you follow whom I don’t know personally has continued on that bully style teasing on his social media, but because of bands like the Misfits I learned that it’s okay to be misunderstood and weird. A few days ago I was able to get onstage and sing with Jerry, Dez and Eric and to say it was one of the greatest moments of my life would be an understatement. It made all that I feared something that I wanted to sing along with. Here were these ghouls dressed in all black with scary makeup and costumes and yet they sang with fun and often doo wop style melodies…the combination of these things together was so profound that it changed my entire psyche. I was 11 years old when I found the Misfits and it changed my life. And because of my deep love of KISS and in particular the Demon character that Gene Simmons portrayed I always associated rock music with “scary” imagery and in some way it attracted me to it even more. The odd thing is that despite my fear of the dark the only things I’d ever find myself wanting to draw were bats, ghouls, ghosts etc. This was something that was so constant and so difficult to deal with that I would completely withdraw from socialization with other kids and stay in my room.drawing, singing, creating. ![]() I would rationalize that if I were able to wash my hands enough times or run down the hall fast enough or count high enough quickly then I would in some way (don’t ask me how) stop the monsters or villains in my mind from getting to me and I’d be safe. If I missed any, let me know.I’ve never shared this publicly but as a very young kid I struggled with obsession compulsive behaviors that were brought on from a crippling fear I had of death, the darkness and all things “spooky”. I hope I covered all of his hairstyles and looks throughout his years. Unlike in BVB, he does not seem to use makeup, but if he does, he has a nude look for his face. In his Andy Black look, I would characterize his hair as the modern, conventional, American look. I'm growing out my own hair to able to achieve his Scarlet Cross look someday. He incorporates red into his look, whether with a scarlet cross on his jacket, a red stripe on his cheek, or with red eyeshadow in "Torch." For "Scarlet Cross" and "Crimson Skies," he has bleached his hair. 2021 - The Phantom TomorrowĪndy has a slick back look for the music videos of The Phantom Tomorrow. In the "Wake Up" video, he has shades of red in his hair. 2018 - ValeĪndy's has parted hair during the Vale era, experimenting with hair dye as well. 2014 - Black Veil BridesĪndy's hair is much shorter in the music video for "Goodybye Agony," but he also had long hair as well. He is no longer associated with full-on glam look but still retains the eyeliner and eye black. Andy wears a head band for "Fallen Angels." 2013 - Wretched and DivineĪndy got rid of the sides of the head but left the middle strip long for a punk-like look. All band members have unique face markings, and Andy is characterized by stripes under the eyes and a stitch pattern in the corner of the mouth. His lips are darker and he has a lip piercing. Spiky, long, messy hair, complemented with the bold, outrageous eyes. 2011 - Set the World on FireĪndy and his band-mates went all-in with the glam look for Set the World on Fire. In "Knives and Pens," he has smudgy eyeliner for an emo look, while in "Perfect Weapon," he has a glam metal look. 2009 - We Stitch These WoundsĪndy had long, emo hair during BVB's early years. I found pictures to illustrate this progression and I've grouped them by album to highlight the various eras in his appearance. I also like how his makeup complements his hairstyle. The progression in Andy Biersack's hairstyles fascinates me a lot. ![]()
